Where Trains Move
The term “railroad infrastructure” refers to the components that line or make up the right-of-way such as ballast, ties, track, bridges, structures (signs, mileposts, switches, etc.), and signaling and radio systems.
Unlike commercial trucking that uses highways built and maintained by the public, railroads must procure, build and maintain their own trackage systems.
