Panthers Gap

Unlike those that use highway transportation, the railroad must maintain its own infrastructure.  When erosion from the rail bed became a concern for Mill Creek at Panthers Gap in Bath County, the Buckingham Branch Railroad took decisive action.  Utilizing private funding only, the rail bed was stabilized and an erosion control barrier was put into place.  The pictures below show the stream before the project was undertaken and the results of the work.
