First Responder Safety Training Conducted
The first
ever (for the BB) First Responder Safety Training was held on Saturday, August 4,
2007 at the Buckingham Branch facility in Staunton, Virginia. The training
was designed to prepare first responders for handling emergency situations
involving rail cars. It included both classroom and practical track
side sessions for fire department and rescue squad personnel. Participating in the event were Dennis Cruise with the
Virginia Propane Gas Association and John Perry with Amtrak. Verbal
feedback from the participants was very positive. There will be additional
training in the future on the east end of the BB's R&A which will
include real-life accident simulation and drill.
